Buying a new roof for your home is neither fun nor easy. The key to success is in knowing a good process for understanding your roof, choosing an appropriate product, determining a contractor you can trust, and then being able to verify that all has been done correctly. No matter what type of roofing material you choose, the process is the same.

To help homeowners in their journey toward a new roof, Todd Miller of Asktoddmiller.com is releasing a series of “How To” videos focused on “Buying A New Roof.” These quick, informative videos are available free on Youtube and give a true insider’s view of the roofing industry. Todd bases them on his 30 years of industry experience.

In the first video, Todd focuses on the importance of setting your criteria for a new roof. If you don’t know what you want to accomplish with your new roof, then you can be assured that history will repeat itself and, within just a few years, you will find yourself back amongst the 6% of homeowners each year who replace their roofs.

“Buying A New Roof Part 2” teaches homeowners how to assess their current roof situations. It is important to understand your current roof before you begin researching products or talking to contractors. In this manner, you can choose a product that meets your criteria and is appropriate for your home. This information also allows you to talk knowledgeably with contractors and be able to determine whether a contractor knows his stuff and is giving you reliable and accurate consultation.

Part 3 of the series looks at special circumstances which, if they exist on your roof, will impact your decision for a new roof. Things like low roof pitches, offset eaves, dead valleys, and flared or flying gables are discussed in this video.

We encourage you to view these first three Asktoddmiller Buying A New Roof videos and watch here for announcements of future video releases.
