"Just wanted to drop a line to let you know how our Classic Metal Roof performed during Katrina. We live in Gulfport, Mississippi, one half mile from the Gulf of Mexico and during Katrina our home was in the right quadrant of the storm. The worst side of the storm. In fact we were in the Eastern eyewall for a good 4-6 hours. Sustained winds 145 mph with gusts to 175 mph. Despite the fierce wind, small tornados and flying debris the roof performed outstandingly well. In fact one of the reasons we chose to stay during the storm was the feeling of security of knowing we had a Classic Metal Roof on our home.
We only sustained minimal damage to a short section of the ridge cap as a result of a crape myrtle beating on the ridge cap. Even with the loss of a few pieces (which I recovered) the rest of the cap and roof remained secure. Attached are before and after pictures of our home.
Since the storm there has been more than a dozen persons come by and inquire about our roof. Just this morning there was a knock on the door from a neighbor who wanted to know more information about our roof. Her visit prompted me to write and share our experience.
