Classic Metal Roofing Systems recently provided a Rustic Shingle aluminum shake roof for an 1847 log cabin being reconstructed at the Garlo Nature Preserve as part of the Seneca County Park District in Bloomville, Ohio.
The cabin was built by Josiah Hedges as one of 15 spec log homes built on Market Street in Tiffin. The homes were advertised in east coast newspapers and this house is documented to have had 11 owners since it was first constructed over 160 years ago.
This unique roof project was originated by Classic independent dealer Paul Burgderfer and Burgderfer Steel Structures of Bloomville. The log home is being reconstructed on the grounds of Garlo Heritage Preserve which is a 292 acre preserve featuring a 37 acre lake and 120 acres of wetlands and woodlands.
According to Seneca Park District Director Roland Zimmerman, the new Classic roof is a “first class product and few people will notice that it is not wood.”
Classic president Todd Miller has been very happy to see his company involved with this project. “A beautiful but modern metal roof on the Hedges cabin is a special blending of old and new. We are very pleased to know that this historic structure will be protected and kept intact for years to come because of this superior roofing system.”
