The babe in the manger

“Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel.” Isaiah 7:14, NIV

Isaiah is known as one of the four Major Prophets. The books of the Bible written by these four are longer than those written by the Minor Prophets. Isaiah and the three others are strongly revered for the way God spoke to them and revealed everlasting truths to them.

It took a great deal of courage for these men to follow their calls as prophets. Isaiah’s words in particular were not always comforting to the people of Judah and Jerusalem. This made his life one of great sacrifice; tradition holds that he was martyred.

In Chapter 7, amongst his words of warning and judgment and his call to repentance, Isaiah sends a message that things were going to change. It would be nearly 700 years before Immanuel, meaning “God is with us,” was born. But yet, still today, this little baby who we now call Jesus Christ carries an offer of salvation along with a message of hope and love.

At this Christmastime, we at Classic Metal Roofing Systems pray that we all know the reality that Immanuel is here. May the babe in the manger bring you a renewed hope as you carry His love into the world.
