Since its formation in 1976, Habitat for Humanity has been one of the most influential non-profit organizations in the entire world. Starting in Americus, Georgia, Habitat has built homes across the world “on the conviction that every man, woman, and child should have a decent, safe, and affordable place to live”. And after almost 35 years, they have built more than 350,000 homes, on five continents, in 3,000 communities, to shelter over 1.75 million people. We at Classic Products holds so much respect for all Habitat has accomplished and are blessed to recently have had the opportunity to contribute to a LEED certified Habitat home for a much deserving family in Keswick, Ontario.

The York Region of Habitat for Humanity has set out to make life a little easier on Charlene Deschamps. She is not only a single mother of six, working two jobs to support her family, but she has overcome a childhood of abuse and battles with substance abuse, an eating disorder, and breast cancer to now care for her five adopted daughters who she has rescued from situations similar to her own. September 2010 marked a milestone on all of their journeys to recovery as ground broke for their LEED certified Habitat house. Not only will they now have a home of their own but it will be equipped with green building technology to conserve energy and save them money for many years to come. Classic is honored to have had the opportunity to contribute a lifetime aluminum roof to the project and play a part in such a great cause. We value nothing more than the opportunity to use our blessings to hopefully bless someone else. We are humbled by Charlene’s story and wish her and her family all the best.
